The Bootham Suite at York Register Office is a beautiful choice for intimate ceremonies and elopements. Holding up to fifty guests, it offers a warm, personal atmosphere just a short walk from the heart of the city.

After the ceremony, I love taking couples to Museum Gardens - only ten minutes away - for relaxed portraits among its trees, ruins, and shifting light. It’s a timeless backdrop for both family photographs and your newlywed shoot, which is included in my Register Office package. From there, we can wander toward some of York’s most iconic landmarks or discover quiet corners that reflect your connection in a more personal way.

Being local to the area, I know many of York’s hidden spaces - from cobbled side streets to peaceful river paths - and I’m always happy to help plan a route that feels natural and true to you. I can also recommend some lovely pubs and restaurants nearby for a relaxed drink or celebratory meal afterwards - perfect spots to continue the day with family and friends.

My coverage of your register office celebration is for two hours, preserving the moments that matter most - In my experience, this allows plenty of time to capture the arrival at the Register Office, family and friend group portraits, and a short newlywed photoshoot in a nearby location.
